Teen Review: Mysteries, continued

Cooked Goose
by G.A. McKevett
296 pages
Adult mystery series
Recommended for grade 10 and up

Reviewed by Kayla, grade 11

Savannah Reid is back for another hilarious and twisted-up mystery. Christmas is just around the bend now but it’s hard to see it when there’s a serial rapist on the loose. She is pulling out all the stops to catch this guy. But is it really who she thinks it might be? Meanwhile she’s teaching a self-defense class to women to prevent them from falling into the clutches of this rapist. However, when one of her students almost gets raped she starts to see the case in a different light. And when cops that Savannah used to work with are murdered, it’s clear that something strange is going on. Can Savannah solve this case before any more innocent people die?

This book was just as good if not better than the first one that I read. It was even more exciting and involved some different characters that added flames to the fire Savannah has started. I’ve grown increasingly attached to the characters and I found myself trying to figure out who did it before Savannah does. I highly recommend this to mystery lovers and avid readers alike.

I rate this book as a 5.

Teens' Top Ten Trailers!

How are you coming along with reading books from the Teens' Top Ten nominees? Did you know we produced a ballot so you could keep track of your reading? (Hint: Click on the word "ballot" and get one!)

Now YALSA (the Young Adult Library Services Association) has produced TRAILERS for each book. Don't miss seeing these teasers designed to give you a hint of what each book is about! Voting opens on August 15, so you still have a month to check out some of these books!

And if you DO read any of these, remember to list them in your reading log, and write a book review! Keep reading, keep writing, keep WINNING! Two more weeks of "Teen Meetup in the Burb," which means two more reading log drawings and one more book review drawing--you don't want to miss them!
