Coming soon...literary events!

On Saturday, October 18, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Buena Vista branch...

MEET LOCAL AUTHORS!

Join us for a Local Authors' Showcase in the meeting room of the Buena Vista Branch Library. There will be more than 50 authors of books on a variety of topics. Discover new books! Connect with new authors! What do you like to read? Mysteries or science fiction? Fantasy or romance? Fiction or nonfiction? Children's books or Young Adult? Stop by and help us celebrate the written word!

And the following week...

Literature hits the streets of the North Hollywood Arts District at the second annual
Lit Crawl LA: NoHo. On Wednesday, October 22, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., thousands of Angelenos from all corners of the city (and some Burbankians from right next door!) are expected to come out for a night of literary mayhem.

It’s a choose-your-own-literary-adventure experience, with more than 25 restaurants, theaters, galleries, and other venues within a walkable area showcasing the best of L.A.’s thriving contemporary literature scene at more than 30 literary events.

The participating groups will share fiction, poetry, plays, and everything in between. They include The Rumpus, 826LA, Los Angeles Review of Books, Avenue 50’s Poesía Para La Gente, Homeboy Industries, PEN Center USA, The World Stage, Tongue & Groove, The New Short Fiction Series, Hot Dish, Beyond Baroque, Cal State Northridge Alumni Writers, and more!

Lit Crawl L.A.: NoHo is FREE, and happens in three 45-minute rounds. Guests can hang out at one venue to see one presentation during each round, or “crawl” from venue to venue.

When: Wednesday, October 22, 2014
Times: Round 1, 7:00 pm; Round 2, 8:00 pm; Round 3, 9:00 pm. Closing Party at 10:00
Location: NoHo Arts District, North Hollywood, CA
Cost: FREE
Public Transportation: Go Metro to Lit Crawl L.A. via the Metro Red Line, the Metro Orange Line, and Metro Bus.

Burbank Public Library is pleased to be one of this year's sponsors, and you will see Carey, Arsine, and Melissa E. at one of the venues (which one is still to come). We are getting a list of specifically teen-friendly venues and will post them here as we get closer.

For more information, including a list of venues, visit their website at www.LitCrawl.org/LA !
