We had 16 in attendance last night to discuss The Mockingbirds, by Daisy Whitney at our last high school book club meeting of the (school) year. It appeared that everyone thought the way she told the story made it all seem too easy, and that there were several implausible situations; but the book provoked a great deal of thought and discussion, and we liked her characters, and for those things everyone appreciated it. It received a rating of 7.25.
For our summer series, we chose The Thief / The Queen of Attolia / The King of Attolia / A Conspiracy of Kings, by Megan Whalen Turner. As we did last year, we will furnish the first book and you can check out the rest from the library. We will order extra copies to be sure you can get them fairly easily.
We were SO SAD to say goodbye to so MANY of our book club members--by my count, it's as many as eleven graduating seniors, off to college or other life experiences! We will miss you all so much--please visit us this summer while you're still here, come to book club when you're in town, or at least check in with us to say hi! (You have our email addresses.)
